Dit handel kortliks oor Oloff van Wagenaar se vader wat deur 'n seerower met die naam van Ben van Osse doodgeskiet word. Kort tevore het hy vir sy seun in Holland geskryf om vir hom te kom kuier in die Kaap. Omrede Oloff van Wagenaar ook rooi hare en blou oƫ het en op 'n haar na soos Ben van Osse lyk, word hy van moord op sy vader verdink, want die Hollandse Oos-Indiese Kompanjie aan die Kaap reken sy ma het hom opgesteek om dit te doen, omdat sy vader haar in Holland verlaat het. En net daar begin die verhaal van Oloff, om nie net sy onskuld as voortvlugtige te probeer bewys nie, maar neem hy ook 'n eed dat hy nie sal rus voor hy nie die waterweƫ van die Ooste bevry het van die seerowereuwel nie.
